LIsten

The “Listen” Garden invites everyone to pause, reflect, and reconnect—with each other and with the land. It is a living symbol of healing and collaboration, where learning blossoms and a shared future takes root for all peoples.

“Listen to the wind, it talks. Listen to the silence, it speaks. Listen to your heart, it knows.”
- Native American Proverb

The “Listen” Garden is a remarkable collaboration led by The Bow Valley Ranche Historical Society with proud support from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society’s Seeds of Change initiative. Together, we are creating a sacred and contemplative space in the heart of Fish Creek Provincial Park — a place where Indigenous knowledge, healing, and our shared connection to the land can be honoured, experienced, and passed forward for all to share.

The Listen Garden has grown from years of heartfelt listening, learning, and collaboration. Guided by the wisdom of a Council of Elders, the project is moving forward with deep respect for the land, its original Indigenous stewards, and the many communities who now call this place home.

Though still in its early stages, the Listen Garden is being developed with care — ensuring harmony with Fish Creek Provincial Park’s natural beauty, its three million annual visitors, the City of Calgary, and all who will one day gather here to learn, reflect, and heal together.
